Our Mission

At GARAS (Gloucestershire Action for Refugees and Asylum Seekers) we offer support to those seeking asylum in Gloucestershire, welcoming them when they arrive, advocating for them in their daily struggles, supporting them if they face being sent back as well as helping them adjust to their long term future if they are recognised as refugees.

During Refugee Week, we had a lot of positive media coverage.  Michael Zorek, whose father came to Gloucester on the Kindertransport in June 1939, was interviewed several times, including on Gloucestershirelive

Michael was also interviewed on BBC Radio Gloucestershire with Sue Oppenheimer, one of our trustees.  You can listen again - 19 mins and 14 seconds in.  Hannah, one of our Advice Workers, was also interviewed on BBC Radio Gloucestershire, and is introduced co-hosting this show after about 20 minutes.
