Our Mission

At GARAS (Gloucestershire Action for Refugees and Asylum Seekers) we offer support to those seeking asylum in Gloucestershire, welcoming them when they arrive, advocating for them in their daily struggles, supporting them if they face being sent back as well as helping them adjust to their long term future if they are recognised as refugees.

Recommended Reading/ Viewing

We recommend watching some powerful films made by Unaccompanied asylum seeking young people in U.K. with the Uprising part of the Surviving to Thriving project. Rebecca, our UASC Liasion Worker writes, "The ones I have seen ("prejudice" and "loneliness") speak very clearly of young people's experiences here. The films are made to be shown freely and so please share!

I found them by going to YouTube and searching #survivingtothriving."
