Our Mission

At GARAS (Gloucestershire Action for Refugees and Asylum Seekers) we offer support to those seeking asylum in Gloucestershire, welcoming them when they arrive, advocating for them in their daily struggles, supporting them if they face being sent back as well as helping them adjust to their long term future if they are recognised as refugees.

Barbara Kew

July 18, 2013

It is with sad news that we have heard that one of our Patrons and former Vice Chair of Trustees, and a founding member and volunteer of GARAS has passed away. Barbara Kew brought with her a tenacity that can not be echoed. She will be missed. If you would like to leave a comment which we can pass onto her family, please feel free below.  Her book ‘Something Must Be Done’ can be purchased from online retailers or ordered from your local book shop.
