Refugee Resettlement Officer vacancy – Gloucestershire

Full Time: 37.5 hours per week (with some ‘on call’ requirements) – job share considered
Starting salary: £31,537 (NJC Scale 6, level 18)
Duration: Initial 1 year post
Location: Gloucestershire
Responsible to: Refugee Resettlement Team Manager and Director

GARAS is recruiting a Refugee Resettlement Officer to support the significant expansion of our Refugee Programme across Gloucestershire.  This is a unique and exciting opportunity for someone interested in gaining first-hand experience working on the frontline of a fast-paced, client-facing charity.

The successful candidate will contribute to the effective and efficient operation of our Refugee Resettlement Team, which offers comprehensive advice and support to refugees who have arrived in the UK through the UKRS and ARAP Resettlement Schemes.

This is an immensely rewarding role, working in a dynamic charity building on an ethos of care and inclusivity.  We are looking for an exceptional individual, committed to go the extra mile and convey our passion to support and transform the lives of refugees in our care.

It is essential that the successful candidate holds a full driving licence, and the post is subject to Disclosure and Barring Checks.

Volunteer Vacancies

Volunteer Social Media Co-ordinator

Are you creative and organised, and want to make a difference in people’s lives through the medium of social media? Do you have 2-4 hours a week that you could spend creating content for GARAS’ social media, and developing our online presence?

GARAS is looking for a volunteer who can work with staff to create, schedule and share engaging contact across our social media platforms. For more information please read through this role description. This role will be subject to a basic DBS check.

Volunteer Graphic Designer

Do you have skills and experience in branding and website support? Would you like to support GARAS by donating these skills, and one or two hours a week? We are looking for someone who has the talent and passion to help refresh our visual identity, including developing a new logo and helping to create a design for our website communications.

ESOL Volunteers

Do you hold an English teaching qualification (TEFL, CELTA or other)? Do you have a couple of hours to spare each week? GARAS has the following ESOL volunteer roles available:

Teaching an adult client in their own home – GL3 area

Teaching an adult client in their own home – GL2 area

Teaching young people as part of a group at GARAS

Lead Teacher for ESOL in the community

Teaching adults ESOL in the community

All of our ESOL volunteer vacancies are subject to an Enhanced DBS check.

Volunteer Welcomers

Are you friendly and personable, with a willingness to serve and enjoy making people feel welcome? We have opportunities for someone like you to help in our reception area: being the first GARAS face that people see as they come for advice, and ensuring that they are comfortable as they wait. You will be good at offering refreshments and keeping the waiting list in order.

Monday Welcomers help to run the drop in

Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday Welcomers help to keep the appointment system flowing smoothly

Friday Welcomers help to run our food bank first thing in the morning and then help to keep the appointment system flowing smoothly

Volunteer Offering Transport Support

Sometimes we have a client who needs to get to an appointment, move house, or needs transport for another reason. If you would like to help someone in this situation, have access to a vehicle, time, and a clean driving licence, we would love to hear from you.

Fundraising Sales Volunteer

If you would like to support the work of GARAS from the comfort of your own home, and can give ad hoc time during the week, why not consider joining our volunteer team as a Fundraising Sales Volunteer? This role involves selling donated items, as and when they are given to us, to help raise money for our core work.
