At GARAS (Gloucestershire Action for Refugees and Asylum Seekers) we offer support to those seeking asylum in Gloucestershire, welcoming them when they arrive, advocating for them in their daily struggles, supporting them if they face being sent back as well as helping them adjust to their long term future if they are recognised as refugees.

Advice and Support Worker (ASW)

Part Time: 21 hours per week
Salary: £24,982 NJC Scale 6 level 18 (pro rata – £14,989.20)
Location: Gloucester
Closing date: 9am Monday 29th November 2021
Interview date: week commencing Monday 6th December 2021

This initial one year post aims to offer independent, impartial and non-directive advice and information on immigration and welfare matters for refugees, asylum seekers and other migrants.  The advice offered will include general advice at OISC level 1, such as housing, Asylum Support, benefits and health. The post holder will be working within a team.

ARAP (Afghan Relocations and Assistance Policy) Resettlement Support Officer – Gloucestershire (ARAP-G)

Full Time: 37.5 hours per week (with some ‘on call’ requirements)
Salary: £24,982 NJC Scale 6 level 18
Location: Gloucestershire
Closing date: 9am Monday 29th November 2021
Interview date: week commencing Monday 6th December 2021

This initial one year post aims to work with Afghan individuals and families arriving in Gloucestershire under the ARAP Scheme, helping them to start their new lives in the UK. This will involve supporting clients through the stages of integration, including preparation and planning prior to their arrival; housing; financial support; access into education; health and employment. The post holder will be working within a team.
